How lip enhancement works

Lip enhancement is achieved by injecting small amounts of dermal filler directly into the lips. The filler is then gently massaged to achieve a plump, smooth and naturally-fuller look.

What will fuller lips look like?

While the pumped up pout is big on Instagram and the glossy mags, for us mere mortals the goal is a subtle plumping rather than full-on puffiness. Our trained doctors and nurse practitioners will first sit down with you to discuss the look you want to achieve. They will then assess the ideal areas to be filled, in order to achieve a full, smooth and natural-looking pout.

After your (very quick) procedure, you’ll notice results right away. Allow a few hours for your lips to settle and then take in your gorgeously pumped-up pucker.

The procedure lasts up to 12 months, depending on how fast your body naturally metabolises hyaluronic acid. Some research has suggested injecting hyaluronic acid actually stimulates your body’s own production of the ingredient, which means your lips will naturally look fuller even after the injection has dissolved.

Lip enhancements are one of the safest cosmetic procedures – when performed by trained professionals. As well as using a naturally-occurring ingredient with extremely low rates of allergic reaction, it’s also reversible. If you decide you don’t like the look of fuller lips (which never happens, but still) a simple injection of the enzyme hyaluronidase will dissolve the hyaluronic acid away within minutes.

How lip enhancement feels

You’ll be offered a local anaesthetic to numb the lip area before receiving your filler. In the days after your procedure you might experience swelling and some tenderness. In very rare cases you may notice some bruising directly around the lips, but this disappears within three to four days.

After that, your lips will feel as soft and natural as they did before. There’s no lumpiness or bumps. You’ll be able to eat, drink and kiss as usual. However, we take no responsibility for the increase in selfies you post online as a result of your gorgeous new look.
